Jiri Menzel

Born in Praguqe, he is a Czechoslovakian actor, director and screenwriter. He studied in the most famous cinema school of Prague. He tried to be an actor but became assistanat director. In 1965, he started directing a 5 parts feature film. His second film won Oscar for best foreign film. Troubles in his country in 1968 interrupted his work. He could pursue directing with a comedy. He worked with Costa Gavras (La petite Apocalypse).
