Synopsis
After twelve years in prison, Walter returns to his hometown to try and start a new life. He lands a job in a woodyard, meets Vickie. But it is up to Walter to overcome what has plagued him for years. And even if he means well, under the scrutinizing eye of Mary Kay, the secretary, and Detective Lucas. One wrong move could cost him everything.
Director
Nicole Kassell makes her feature directing debut with The Woodsman. Kassell is a recent graduate of NYU’s Tisch School’s graduate film program, where she wrote, produced and directed three short films. Jaime won the 1999 DGA Best female student Filmmaker Award, and her thesis film, The Green Hour, was honored with the Warner Bros. Pictures Film Production Award and was an official selection of the 2002 Sundance Film Festival. The Woodsman screenplay took first prize in 2001 Slamdance.
