Shadow of the Vampire
Synopsis
1921, somewhere in Eastern Europe. The German film director F. W. Murnau has just begun the exteriors of Nosferatu, a vampire tale inspired by Bram Stoker’s novel « Dracula ». A perfectionist and pioneering stylist, the young director has cast Max Schreck in the main role of the terrifying Count Orlock. Repeatedly disconcerted and frightened by the attitudes and methods of this « actor », the crew members, led by the brilliant artist, more or less play along with Schreck’s strange pranks
Director
He was born in New York. He graduated at the State University Conservatory of New York. He directed many plays writen by Strindberg or Beckett as well as experimental works. In 1991, he directed his film to complete studies, Begotten, aclaimed by critic and ranked one of the 10 best movies of the year by the Time magazine.
