Synopsis
On the hottest day of the summer in Andalusia, Pepe is racing in the Vuelta España, Spain’s biggest bicycle race. Far from the best on the team, he overhears his coach talking about dismissing him. When the racers approach the village of Pepe’s birth, a minor accident changes the course of events. Pepe finds himself as close to victory as he ever has been. His mind working feverishly, Pepe desperately pedals for the chance of a lifetime…
Director
Born in Tokyo in 1962, Kitaro Kosaka has worked on numerous features and TV animation films including Akira, Metropolis and Grave of the Fireflies. He has worked closely with Hayao Miyazaki for nearly 20 years on such films as Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds, Castle in the Sky, and Princess Mononoke. Aside from an animation short, Clover, in 1999, Nasu: Summer in Andalusia is his first film. He is also a cyclist amateur, and regularly participates in racing events.
