Luminous People
Synopsis
A group of people is in a boat travelling along Mekong River that stretches along the Thai-Laos border. They are running against the wind, anticipating a farewell. In the middle of the river, the lady head of the family casts the ashes off into the stream.
Director
Apichatpong Weerasethakul was born in Bangkok in 1970. Artist and independent filmmaker, he earned international recognition when his films Blissfully Yours (2002) and Tropical Malady (2004) were selected for the Cannes Film Festival. He has since made Syndromes and A Century, shown at Venice in 2006.
