La Fin Des Pyrénées

Fortnight 1971, Feature film, 1h20'

A young couple tries to escape from social pressure that would make them live a so called normal life.

Jean-Pierre Lajournade

He studied cinema at IDHEC, in France. From 1962 to 1968, he worked at the ORTF, a publicly owned broacasting organization. He directed two full length films, le oueur de quilles (1968) and la Fin des Pyrénées (1971); he also made four short films. He is close to a modernist movement in the cinema of the 60’s with Philippe Garrel, Patrick Deval, Jackie Raynal etc. His work is unbuilt and violently anticonstitutional. His short film Droit d’asile was censored for a while. Le Jueur de quilles et Cinbéma, cinéma question about different ways for the very representation of the film. La Fin des Pyrénes is a true nihilistic and desperate manifesto.
