Synopsis
In the automn of 1430, Jeanne d’Arc, prisoner of a powerful lord of the north of France, is sold to the English. Between the walls that imprison her and the stake at which she will perish, men attempt to approach this young woman who embodies the infinite.
Philppe Ramos is the director, cinematographer and editor of « The Silence of Joan », his moving, luminous and unaffected third feature film. A film whose grace is reminiscent of Alain Cuny’s « L’Annonce Faite à Marie ». Clémence Poésy delivers a most delicate and intense Joan of Arc, whose body will be burned three times in order to insure that she is completely annihilated.

Philippe Ramos was born in the Drôme region in 1966. Self-trained, he began directing shorts at an early age. In 2002, he directed his first feature, Adieu pays, then in 2007 Capitaine Achab (Best Director’s award in Locarno).
