Quinzaine 1977 | Short film | 8mn

Tribute to John Hubley, 1977 Directors’ Fortnight
John Hubley, through the cosmic, fluid grace of his films, renews animation in its very core. The materials’ principle tunes the movements’s amazing slender with the natural dialogues recorded raw (children’s babble or jazzman’s slang) : he is the only animation director that adapts himself directly to speech.
We could go on forever about his capital role in american animation. Leaer of the UPA, pioneer of ideological animation, creator of 3mister Magoo » and « Gerald Mac Boeing Boeing », author of scientific fresco, he introduced painting techniques (oil, watercolours, wax) in animation, and gave extreme freedom to the human movements’ decomposition, which makes him on of the major teachers of image by image itself.
