Diary of a Mad Old Man

Fortnight 1987, Feature film, 1h30

Synopsis

Diary of a Mad Old Man (based on the novel by Junichiro Tanizaki) tells the story of an old man who desperately clings to life by means of an erotic fixation. When I made the film, I tried above all to describe the old man’s state of mind. His thoughts and memories play an important part, and the litlle that happens is only meaningful to himself. It is a confrontation with one of the most essential things in life: death. Lili Rademakers
