Synopsis

Julia is a mature woman, short and plump, with pretty legs, an expressive face and an almost infantile charm. She lives alone with her daughter and works as a telephone operator for the Telmex company. Passionately fond of dance, she is a regular customer at the Colonia Dance Hall where she has had the same partner for ten years : Carmelo, a wonderful dancer, about fifty, dark and tall, with charming manners and a beautiful shaped moustache over a dazzling smile. But one day, Carmelo disappears…

Director

Maria Novaro

She was born in Mexico. She studied cinema at the Cinema studies center and directed various short films and participated in the direction of several movies. She became Alberto Cortes’ assistant on Amor a la vuelta de la Esquina. In 1989, she directed her first feature film, Lola, awarded best first movie of the year in Mexico and awarded in many festivals. Danzon is her second film.
