Who can apply for a Directors’ Fortnight accreditation?
The applicant must be a motion picture professional associated to the current Directors’ Fortnight edition and belong to one of the following categories: Director/film crew member, Sponsor, Distributor, Producer. The applicant may also be linked to art and cultural institutions, as well as being a member of Press.
Note: Applications may result unsuccessful. Accreditations are not renewable from one edition to the other.
I am already accredited through the Cannes Film Festival. Should I apply for a Directors’ Fortnight accreditation ?
>>You don’t need a Directors’ Fortnight accreditation if you are already accredited by the Cannes Film Festival, by the Film Market or if you have a press accreditation. All these accreditations provide access, under the same conditions as the Fortnight badge, to screenings at the Theatre Croisette (JW.Marriott) and the Arcades cinema.
I have registered my film for the Cannes Film Festival selection and/or the Critic’s Week’s. Should I register for the Fortnight’s selection too?
>> If you want to see your film presented to the Fortnight’s selection comity, you must register through our website. Selections of the Cannes Film Festival (Competition, Out of competition, Un Certain Regard) and the Critics’Week are processed by distinct entities.
What requirements does a film need to fulfill before submission?
>> All films that are submitted to the Directors’ Fortnight must fulfill the following requirements :
1 – Films must have been made during the 12 months preceeding the 2018 Cannes film festival.
2 – With the exception of foreign films in their country of origin, they should not have been presented at any international festival or film event (except in the context of a film market).
3 – Films must not have been shown on the Internet or broadcasted on TV or commercially released in France.
4 – For short films, they have to be less than 60-minutes long
5 – If selected, films must be able to provide a DCP or 35mm print for the Cannes screening.
Where do the Fortnight’s projections take place ?
>> The Theatre Croisette in the JW MARRIOTT is the Directors’ Fortnight main screening venue. All films in the selection are also shown at six associated venues in Cannes : Les Arcades, the Salle Alexandre III, Théâtre La Licorne, Studio 13 at the MJC Picaud and Cinéma Le Raimu
Where can I buy tickets for the Directors’ Fortnight projections ?
>> Tickets are on sale at counters on the Malmaison esplanade.
There is no advance booking. Each ticket is valid for a non-specified screening with available seats. Unused tickets will not be refunded. Given the demand for seats, we recommend to arrive forty-five minutes before each screening. The tickets issued by the ticket office located on the Malmaison esplanade are only valid for screenings at the Thêatre Croisette (JW Mariott), at Cinéma les Arcades and at l’Olympia. The remaining Fortnight’s venues are only accessible to invited or accredited public, or through Cannes cinéphiles.
