Born in Addis Abeda, his father was Greek and his mother was Ethiopian. He lives in Ethiopia, Lebanon and founded a cabaret La Rose Rouge he owns and animates until 1953. He produced Jan Genet’s film Un Chant d’amour and two cartoons of Jean Gruelle. In 1958, in the USA, he coproduced John Cassavetes’ first film Shadows. In 1962, he made his first feature film Les Abysses, shown in Cannes in 1963. In 1967, he got back to Greece to shoot Les Pâtres du désordre. In 1975 his movie Gloria Mundi was shown at the International festival in Paris.
