He grew up in the Esat Anglia area and left school when he was 15. He had jobs before he became a jazz musician. When in was 21, he studied drama at the Drama Center of London. He worked two years at the Crucible in Sheffield,; he was interested in direction. He mainly worked on young authors’ work. He wrote a play, Psy warriors, and also wrote dramas for TV. He worked with Alan Clarke. He took part in writing the screenplay of Mona Lisa, by Neil Jordan and wrote Personnal Services, by Terry Jones. He was an actor at the Nottingham Playhouse and the William Gaskill compagny at the Royal Court Theater. He performed in Sunday, Bloddy Sunday, by John Schlesinger, Time Bandits, by Terry Gilliam, The Missionary, by Michael Palinn among others. Wish you were here is his first full length film.
