The Carrosse d’Or
The Carrosse d’or* (Golden Coach) Prize is a tribute by directors of the SRF to one of their own, chosen from the international filmmaking community for the innovative qualities, courage and independent-mindedness of his or her work.
Jacques Rozier was the first recipient of this prize in 2002. It was subsequently awarded to Clint Eastwood in 2003, Nanni Moretti in 2004, Sembene Ousmane in 2005 and David Cronenberg in 2006.

This year, the “Carrosse d’or " was awarded to Alain Cavalier, in honor of a filmmaker who has always combined autonomy, grace and an uncompromising quest for truth in his work.
The prize has been presented during the opening night ceremony of the Directors’ Fortnight, following a screening of Cavalier’s 1986 film, Thérèse at the Croisette Theater.
*Carrosse d’or: a bronze statuette inspired by the characters of the Commedia dell’Arte and Jean Renoir’s classic film, was designed by painter-sculptor Lili Legouvello.
