REPEAT SCREENINGS OF THE 40TH DIRECTORS' FORTNIGHT
For a number of years now, the Directors’ Fortnight has been organizing repeat or decentralized screenings, in order to bring its selections to the largest possible audience.
This year, after the Cannes Festival, the films of the 39th Directors’ Fortnight will be shown in Paris, Marseille, Rome and Milan (Italy).

At the Cinema des cinéastes
Since its beginnings in 1989, the Forum des Images, an institution subsidized by the City of Paris, has pursued the mission of promoting independent cinema by programming films from all horizons, often in the presence of their talented filmmakers. It has achieved this goal through a number of festivals it has hosted or at the initiative of the institution: the Rencontres – the official selection of Paris Cinéma, Premiers Plans in Angers, the Némo Festival, and, of course, the Directors Fortnight.
Since 1991, the repeat programming of this Cannes event has ensured these rare films a greater visibility among Parisian audiences. The Forum des Images is undergoing extensive renovations. Pending its re-opening end of 2008, the Forum des Images is programming “beyond the walls” at various locations around the capital (the Max-Linder cinema, Cinema des Cineastes, the Pavillon de l’Arsenal, Centre Pompidou).
For the repeat programming of the entire 40th Directors’ Fortnight, the Forum des Images is joining forces with a prestigious venue, the Cinéma des Cinéastes, which is especially open to new generations of filmmakers. Immediately after the Cannes Film Festival, the Cinéma des Cinéastes and the Forum des images are proud to present the complete Fortnight program as seen on the Croisette, unusual and innovative films that reveal and confirm the art of film.

At the Alhambra theatre
In Marseille, the Alhambra cinema, under the sponsorship of the Regional Council of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, is programming part of this year’s Directors’ Fortnight selection. The Alhambra aims to show the Fortnight selection to the largest audience possible in a flagship theater. Moviegoers in the Marseille area can thus enjoy exclusive screenings of a dozen new and not-yet-released feature films in this theater located in the “northern quarters,” near l’Estaque. In addition, the cinema regularly holds Q&A sessions and discussions.
