Born in 1958 in Vienna. Peter Tscherkassky studies philosophy and receives the National Award for the Art of Film in 1989 and 1995. He teaches filmmaking at the Universities of Applied Arts in Vienna and Linz. Founding member of Sixpack Film, he organizes several international avant-garde film festivals in Vienna. He is the author of many publications and lectures on the history and theory of avant-garde film.
