He was born in Hungary. He died in 1987 in Italy. He won the Silver Leopard at Locarno in 1972. Angi Vera won the Cannes International Critic Prize and awards at San Sebastian and Sao Paulo. He was member of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1979 and member of the jury at the Venice Film Festival in 1986.
