Born in 1956, Jean-Louis Gonnet studied at the Institute of Photography in Geneva and the School of Fine Arts in Orleans, where he received his degree in plastic arts in 1981. He then worked as assistant director and directed his first short in 1981. He has also directed many industrial films.
