Biography

Louis Garrel began taking acting courses in secondary school. After studying literature at the Lycée Fénelon in Paris, he entered the National Drama Conservatory in Paris, from which he graduated in 2004. He got his first film role in Rodolphe Marconi’s Ceci est mon corps. He then appeared in two films about the events of May ’68: Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Dreamers in 2003 and Philippe Garrel’s Les Amants réguliers in 2005, for which he won the César for best male hopeful. He appeared under Christophe Honoré’s direction in Ma mère (2004), Dans Paris (2006) and Les Chansons d'amour (2007), and in the upcoming La Belle Personne (2008). In 2007, he also appeared in Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi’s Actrices.
