Born in 1963, Hitosi Matumoto made his acting debut in 1983 as Downtown. Since 1990, he has appeared numerous film comedies in which he displayed an original temperament that made an impression among audiences and the artistic community. In 1998, he published "Visualbum", a collection of stories that revealed another side to his comic gifts. In Dai Nippojin, his first film as director, he also plays the main role.
