For several years now, I’ve been fascinated by working with youths, because they offer me a challenge at a level which still exists – the level of wishes, hopes, utopian dreams. And again and again, I’ve made use of their experiences, too. And often, when doing so, I took on a responsibility which I couldn’t keep track of. In my last film, « Paule Paulander », making films provided the initial spark for the main actor, a teenager, to leave home. He came to me, and wanted a straight answer, and I noticed I wasn’t able to provide this answer, at least not in the long term. Reinhard HAUFF
