Ajami vit à Jaffa, un melting pot de cultures où s'affrontent Juifs, Musulmans et Chrétiens. Nasri, un adolescent sensible de treize ans et son frère aîné Omar vivent dans la peur : leur famille est en danger après que leur oncle a blessé un membre important du clan. Malek, un jeune réfugié Palestinien naïf travaille illégalement en Israël pour financer l'opération vitale que sa mère doit subir. Binj, un jeune Palestinien, rêve d'un brillant avenir avec sa fiancée juive. Le policier juif Dando veut à tout prix se venger de la mort de son frère...
