In Iranian Kurdistan, near the Iraqi border, children of one family provide for themselves. The younger brother suffers from a serious ailment. The doctors say he only has a month to live if he is not operated on immediately. Seeing no other choice, his sister agrees to marry an Iraqi willing to aid them financially. At the border, the future husband's family refuses to have the sick youth come with them. They give him a horse which will allow him to earn a living. He returns to Iran with his brother, but time is running out for the operation'
